Today we celebrate the adoption of Estrella ❤️.

PAS rescued Estrella about four months ago, an abandoned young momma with a beautiful puppy. She was taken in and lovingly fostered by Dilsa. Others in our dog loving group also provided dog sitting for Estrella and her puppy over the months. She stole all our 💕. But today we celebrate the wonderful news that her new temporary foster mom, Daryelis has decided to keep her forever! This news brings tears of joy to all of us who work closely in the ProAnimales Santeños group. Adoptions are few and far between, so it’s a big heartfelt reward for hard work when they happen ❤️. Estrella’s new home is in Playa Venao and you can find her hanging out in the office at El Sitio with her new mom. She will be there to help greet the guests with a smile a wiggle of happiness. This work we do is hard but worth it; and it’s expensive to keep the vet bills paid and the supplies stocked. We only exist with the donations from our supporters. If you are able to contribute We would be grateful. A one time donation, or sign up as a “Virtual Angel” to support a specific case. Any aid you can offer, we will gladly accept. We also are in desperate need of foster families, long and short term. Even if you can only spare a week or two, giving one of our dogs a little mini vacation with some love and exercise, maybe some walks on the beach is all we ask. Many of our dogs have been with us for 4-6 months, so a change of pace is a blessing for them. So come be a part of our PAS family. The doggies and kitties will thank you!! 🐶😺

Tigre – the community beach dog in Venao. Tigre can be seen around Playa Venao most days. He is getting old and has several issues that need medical attention. Melissa, at #RicosCoffee has taken a personal interest in Tigre and reached out to PAS to help. Abbe and Gord picked up Tigre, and took him to see Dr. Jose in Pedasi. He is now on three different medications for several medical issues. He is on the road to recovery and Melissa will ensure he gets his medications each day. She will also be taking donations to help pay for the vet bill and the medications that were quite expensive. So if you are in Venao, go say hello to Tigre and Melissa, and have a coffee at #RicosCoffee! Don’t forget to donate to Tigre’s medical fund. It’s actions like this from the people in our wonderful communities that give these animals a good life. If you would like to donate to support Tigre’s medical costs, there are several options: GoGundMe http://gofundme.com/f/pro-animales, PayPal – http://paypal.me/abbedrossner1 or send an email to fundraising@proanimales.org and be sure to add “Tigre’s Care” to your email. www.ProAnimales.org. Tax #87-3770161 – donations are tax deductible in the U.S.A.

The foster story of Guinevere. Our expat plan included me living alone here for about 6 months. This was the perfect time to foster a dog! And, oh what a dog I got… Guinevere was living on the streets of Pedasí and rescued by a local. She was an angel from the moment I picked her up, a truly sweet spirit.

For the next couple of months, I gave her love, regular meals, a soft bed, and a farm to run to her heart’s content. It was so heartwarming to see her blossom. It wasn’t long before Pro Animales found the perfect home for her. Although it was SUPER sad to let her go, it just wasn’t the right time for us to have a dog (if it was, I totally would have kept her!) and it was wonderful to have the opportunity to protect and care for her until she went to the perfect place. I felt like the lucky one!

Today, she is cherished and spoiled rotten. SO well deserved! Pro Animales is an outstanding organization run by people who adore animals and have lots of connections that enable them to make a huge difference for a lot of dogs and cats.
